Effective date: October 21, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of the RJ & Son Electric website at rjandsonelectric.com and to electrical services provided by RJ & Son Electric (“RJ & Son,” “we,” “us”). RJ & Son Electric is based in Rocky Point, New York and serves Suffolk County. Electrical work is performed by Richard Gruttola, Licensed Master Electrician, License ME-72156. By using this website, requesting a quote, or hiring us, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services and Service Area

We provide residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical services, including repairs and troubleshooting, panel work, lighting, EV charger installation, rewiring, generator transfer switches, ceiling fans, surge protection, and emergency service. Service availability depends on the location and scope of the job. Call us to confirm that we serve your address and can take on your project.

2. Estimates and Quotes

Estimates are based on the information available when we give them, including your description of the problem and, where possible, an inspection of the site. An estimate is not a guarantee of final price. If conditions differ from what was described or visible, such as concealed damage, outdated or unsafe wiring, code violations, or inadequate panel capacity, we will tell you before proceeding and give you an updated price or scope. Unless the estimate states otherwise, written estimates are valid for 30 days.

2A. Requesting a Quote Online or by Phone

When you submit a quote request, call, or email us, you give us permission to contact you about your request using the phone number or email address you provide. Submitting a request does not create a contract for work. A contract for work exists only when you accept our estimate or agreement and we agree to schedule the job.

3. Scheduling and Access

Scheduled appointment times are our best estimate. Delays can occur because of emergencies, weather, material availability, or work that takes longer than expected. We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed. You agree to provide safe, clear access to the work area, the electrical panel, and any equipment involved. We may postpone or decline work if conditions are unsafe, the work area is not accessible, or a responsible adult is not available when access is needed.

4. Emergency Service

We offer 24/7 emergency electrical service. If you smell burning, see smoke or flames, or believe anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 first. Emergency response times are not guaranteed, and after-hours or emergency calls may be priced differently from standard work. We will explain applicable charges before starting whenever it is possible to do so.

5. Permits, Inspections, and Code Compliance

We perform work in accordance with applicable electrical codes. Where a permit or inspection is required for the work, we will pull the permit or coordinate the inspection as described in your estimate or agreement. Permit and inspection fees are included in the estimate or listed separately. Any work required by an inspector to bring existing conditions into compliance, beyond the agreed scope, may be an additional cost.

6. Customer Responsibilities

You confirm that you own the property or have authority to approve the work. You agree to tell us about known hazards, including prior electrical problems, water intrusion, asbestos, mold, or any condition that may affect safety. Furniture, valuables, and finishes in the work area should be moved or protected before we arrive. We take care to protect your property and clean up after every job.

7. Changes to the Work

Changes to the agreed scope must be approved by you before the work is done. Additional work, materials, or labor requested or required during the job may change the price and schedule. We will give you a revised price whenever practical before continuing.

8. Payment

Payment terms are stated in your estimate or invoice. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, payment is due when the work is completed. We accept the payment methods we list at the time of service. Customers are responsible for the full amount due, including approved additional work and materials. Past-due amounts may be subject to reasonable collection efforts, and we may decline further non-emergency work until the account is current, to the extent permitted by law.

9. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. If we have already ordered special-order materials or equipment for your job, you may be responsible for those costs. Diagnostic or service-call fees, if applicable and disclosed before the visit, remain due when we have already traveled to your property and begun the evaluation.

10. Workmanship and Warranty

We stand behind our work. If you notice a problem with workmanship, contact us promptly and give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and correct it. Any specific workmanship warranty period is stated in your estimate or agreement. Manufacturer warranties on products and equipment, such as EV chargers, panels, generators, transfer switches, and fixtures, are provided by the manufacturer and are separate from our workmanship. Our warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, power surges or utility events, unauthorized modifications or repairs by others, normal wear, or conditions outside the agreed scope of work.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New York law, RJ & Son Electric’s liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific work at issue. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, such as lost income, spoiled goods, or loss of use, except where such limits are not allowed by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for our own gross negligence or willful misconduct. We carry insurance as appropriate for our work.

12. Website Use

The information on this website, including service descriptions, blog articles, and guides, is general information only. It is not a substitute for an on-site evaluation by a licensed electrician, and it is not professional advice for your specific situation. Do not attempt electrical work yourself based on website content. Electrical work can be dangerous and, in many cases, requires a licensed professional and a permit. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with its operation, or submit false or misleading information.

13. Content, Photos, and Reviews

Text, photos, logos, and other content on this website belong to RJ & Son Electric or are used with permission, and may not be copied or reused without our written permission. We may photograph completed work for our gallery and marketing and will not publish your name, address, or other identifying details without your permission. Customer reviews shown on this site are the opinions of the individuals who wrote them.

14. Privacy

We use the contact details and project information you give us only to respond to your request, provide service, schedule and invoice work, and communicate about your job. We do not sell your personal information. Our website host and standard analytics and security tools may collect basic technical information, such as browser type and pages visited, as part of normal operation of the site.

15. Third-Party Links

This website may link to third-party sites, such as Google Maps and review platforms. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. We encourage you to contact us first about any concern so we can resolve it directly. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, New York, and you and RJ & Son Electric consent to that venue.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page, with its effective date, applies to your use of the website. Terms agreed in a written estimate or contract for specific work take priority over these general Terms if they conflict.
