Meet Richard Gruttola
Richard Gruttola is the Master Electrician behind RJ & Son Electric. He works directly with customers throughout Suffolk County on electrical repairs, installations, renovations, and upgrades. See why hire a local electrician instead of calling a national chain.
Electrical work can get complicated quickly, especially when a home has been renovated over the years or when the symptom does not clearly point to the cause. Richard's approach is to understand what is happening before deciding what needs to be repaired or replaced.
That means a tripping breaker is not automatically treated as a bad breaker. Flickering lights are not automatically turned into a panel replacement. An EV charger does not automatically mean a home needs 200-amp service.
The job is to figure out what the electrical system actually needs and explain it clearly.

What Matters When Someone Is Working in Your Home or Business
Most customers do not want a lecture about electrical systems. They want to know what is wrong, what needs to be done, and why. Our blog explains common electrical topics in plain language.
Electrical symptoms can have more than one cause. Troubleshooting comes before assuming a breaker, panel, fixture, circuit, or other component needs replacement.
You should understand what Richard found and what he is recommending without having to know electrician terminology.
Electrical work often happens inside finished homes and active businesses. Clean work and limiting unnecessary disruption matter.
Bigger is not automatically better. The right repair or upgrade depends on the condition of the electrical system and what the property needs to support.
Good electrical work starts with understanding the problem, not assuming the most expensive solution before the system has been evaluated.
